Who is Igor Cibulsky?

I live in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I have a degree in geophysics and I work in this field of expertise. I deal with engineering and geophysical quests/surveys for the construction of pipelines. This job requires constant travel due to which I crisscrossed a large part of my homeland.

Photography is a hobby for me, it doesn’t make me any money so I am just doing it for fun. I started shooting on an SLR camera just a couple of years ago so I’m just learning. And deep down I hope that someday I will be able to call myself a real photographer!

The stories behind the best photos

1. The light pillars

2

Over the past few years, every February my wife and I go to the Kola Peninsula, Arctic Circle, in order to try our luck in the hunt for the Northern lights. We were not lucky this time but we managed to catch a no less fascinating phenomenon – the light pillars.

2. Little trip with dogs

5

In the summer I sometimes take a boat, a tent, and my dogs and go on a little trip.

3. Georgia

6

This photo was taken in the town of Gudauri, Georgia. By this picture, my wife and I wanted to express our love for this country.

4. Bellaca

7

Photo from our autumn trip to the North Caucasus. This mountain is considered to be one of the most beautiful ones in Karachay-Cherkessia and is called Bellaca.

5. Yumi

8

A dog named Yumi. The photo was taken during my winter trip to Karelia.

6. Sukhumi road

9

The North Caucasus, The Gonachkhir Gorge. The famous military Sukhumi road runs along this Gorge.

7. Starry sky

11

Once I spent a night on top of the mountain in the UAZ car. For one simple reason – to take a photo of the starry sky.

Igor is inspired by the photographers Alex Strohl and Forrest Mankins. ‘Every photo taken by them is a real masterpiece!’ he says.

To salute Igor’s photo story, we’ve created a unique collection of his work – take a look.
