This was one of the best years for UGC. Studies show that 76% of people trust content shared by the average person more than by a brand. In 2017, we had a chance to witness outstanding UGC campaigns from all over the world.
2017 is definitely the year of visual content and millennials got into it pretty fast. A 2011 study by AOL/Nielsen showed that 27 million pieces of content were shared every day, and today 3.2 billion images are shared each day. What’s more, it’s estimated that video will account for 74% of all online traffic in 2017. Consumers from 25 to 54 create and share 70% of all UGC. Moreover, 51% of millennials trust a UGC piece more than anything on a company’s website, ads, news articles or blog posts about the company or product. It shows topics, trends, and issues that are actually important for people.
Lobster’s Achievements and Milestones
In our 2016 year in review, we discussed the third year of our goal to ‘make UGC more accessible. It is the unrated value on which a lot of us are sitting on without notice. In this time we’ve built this platform from scratch to aggregate 9 social sources and counting on. This year over 1.3 million people searched UGC content in Lobster. Thanks, guys!
While we keep on innovating the search for creative social content, let’s have a quick look at Lobster’s highlights for the year.
Global Ambassador Program. In September, we announced the Global Ambassador Program, which is designed to expand the Lobster community by teaming up with the best content creators in prominent cities across the world.
People Search. It allows people to quickly find precise images of subjects of all of the shapes, sizes, and creeds that match their visual needs. It allows you to specify your query by some features, including facial angle, number of people, gender, age, emotions, etc.
Style Search. If you know how the photos should look like, upload the images, you’d like to emulate, and we’ll pull all the relevant options for you. Say goodbye to wasting time sifting through the same retreaded bland corporate stock options.
Multi-Accounting. With this feature, teams can operate under one company plan while providing each team member their own sub-account. Create as many sub-accounts you need so your entire team can work without any interruptions.
WHAT HAS THE YEAR OF 2017 SHOWN US IN UGC TRENDS?

Tips: Try the advanced search filters. For example, when looking for the term ‘New Year,’ you can choose the location or the main color. When looking for ‘child,’ try our filters that sort by the number of people, age and much more. Or, if you’d rather, search for authentic content in our galleries.
Tips: The keywords that people use most are also some of the biggest content categories. Use more specific words to find the most relevant content. If you’re not sure what kind of photo you need, explore the social tags and find inspiration in gorgeous photography, for example, nested under architecture.
